About
this dataset This key was createt during a Master thesis by Magnus Lindh, Department of Conservation Biology, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Superviser was Göran Thor. It was made in cooperation with the Swedish Taxonomy Initiative at the Swedish Species Information Centre where Rikard Sundin and Maria Barret Ripa were contacts. Leif Tibell at Uppsala University helped as specialist of calicioid lichens. Litterature Nordic Lichen Flora Volume 1 Introductory parts, Calicioid lichens and fungi. ![]() Photo Ulf Arup Helge G Gunderssen Svante Hultengren Leif Tibell Calicioid lichens Calicioid lichens were for a long time considered as a typical monophyletic group. They were characterised by the mazaedium (spore mass free from the asci) and had stalked fruitbodies. Today we know that they belong to many different genus, familys and orders. Some of them do not have mazaedium and other are not even lichenized. They are however often treated together because of historical reasons and their similar morphology. |
